Message:Clarence Linden Etter was born in Keokuk County, Iowa, died in Port Allen, Oakland Twp., Lousia County, Iowa. He was the son of Jacob Franklin and Inza Bianca (FRAZE) Etter. Cause of death was epilepsy since birth. Siblings: Charles Edwin; Samuel Franklin; Mary Elizabeth (WEBSTER); John Henry; Edna Mae (BLAKE); and Ruth Hellen (DEAN, TOMLINSON).

Message:John Armstrong Nossaman's wife is Marvana McKee. He has a headstone in Porter Grove Cemetary but the body was never recovered when John drowned in Arkansas River on his journey home from the Civil War.

Message:Dickey was the son of Henry Pomeroy and Mary Millers Pomeroy who immigrated from Buckfastleigh, Devon, England - going 1st to Ohio,where Dickey was born, then to Iowa & finally to Colorado. A note on the death records page in the family Bible states the he “burnt to death.” He was 5 days short of being 5 years old.

Message:The birth date for William McLaughlin, according to record, is 6 June 1772. The death date on his gravestone isn't exact, as an article on Page 3 of the Washington County Press published on Wed 27 Feb 1878, states his death date as 24 Feb 1878. He is buried in Harrisburg Cemetery, Highland Twp, Washington County, on the row farthest to the west.

Message:Sorry I don't I haven,t been on WPA in awhile. Robert is my 3rd Grt. Grandfather, his daugher Delilah is my 2nd Grt., which of course makes her and Hennrietta 1/2 sisters. There are 3 names on the one stone, Robert's, , David's ,and John. I have read it, cleaned it , fixed it etc. I'm only 5 miles from the cemetery. Message:He died 16 Sep 1884 at age 43 so his DOB was about 1841. He served in the Civil War, but his GAR Card and Pension both indicate service in the 7th Illinois Cavalry, although the stone does say 11th Ill Inf.

Message:It appears that this stone was ordered in error. The Bryon Abbott who served in the 7th Ohio died in Ohio in 1907. This Byron lived in Fayette County with his parents in 1860 and married there in 1864 and was born in Illinois.

Message:John is not a Jr. The confusion is understandable since he lived with his Uncle John Morford from as early as age 1 to age 5 and until his death at age 15. His mother Elizabeth died in 1906.

Message:This record actually was written "Mo. Eng." but was incorrectly transcribed as "Mo. England". Could "Eng." have stood for something like Engineer"? So perhaps "Mo. Eng" meant something else entirely. Just a thought.

Message:This is William Marion Henry, second child of Matthew and Catherine Nations Henry. He married 3 times; only children with Sarah Elizabeth Raser who died in 1887, probably due to birth of last child Sarah Blanche. Sarah Blanche was raised by relatives; she married Orville Henry Cuddy.

Message:This is likely Margaret "Maggie" Rebecca Dunn, daughter of Margaret and Samuel Dunn, wife of John David Henry, MD (oldest son of Matthew and Catherine Henry). John David and Maggie Dunn Henry and their three little girls, who died very young, are buried in Martinsburg.

Message:Margaret/Maggie and her husband Samuel came to Iowa from Ohio, about 1869, with their 7 (?) surviving children, one having died in childhood and been buried 1858 in Belmont County, Ohio. Most if not all are buried in Martinsburg.
