Message:The Jacob Kimble who served in th e 8th Iowa Infantry is buried in Wapello County. No Civil War Regiment has been found for the Jacob Kimble buried at Oakview even though his stone says Civil War veteran. I believe that his DOD is also incorrect on the stone because he is listed in the 1880 Census records in Monroe County. The stone appears to be much newer than the 1879 death date.

Message:The birth data here is clearly wrong, but I can be certain how much. His headstone confirms what census records show, which is that he was born in 1783 or 1784, NOT 1794. 17 Oct 1784 is possible, but other data suggest he was born 17 Dec 1783, which would also be consistent with census records and his headstone. FYI, I am Peter's 4th great grandson.
