His father was John Smith Brockway (1792 - 1881), and his mother was Roba [Nichols] (1798 - 1873). He had two brothers, Martin A. Brockway (1819 - 1909) and Charles Brockway (1829 - ?); and one sister, Candice Keziah [Brockway] Millar (1823 - 1860). Mason married Mary Ann [Allensby] (1840 - 1917) on 13 Nov 1860 in Lake County, Illinois. They moved to Kankakee County, Illinois and later, on to Muscatine County, Iowa. They had four children: George Brockway (Dec 1863 -<after 1930>), Minnie [Brockway] Williams (Dec 1871 - 1923), James Maine Brockway (May 1875 - 1943) and Lewis A. Brockway (Oct 1876 - 1945).
