Moved to Iowa with his parents and several siblings in Oct 1855 to Story County. Married Dec 26, 1857 to Hannah Lee. Had at least 5 children. According to a court case in 1887, Sylvanus was mentally incapacitated and had to have a guardian to make decisions on his behalf. Not sure if he was institutionalized. My g g grandfather's brother.
