A plaque was added to the marker indicating that Samuel Cole, father of Sebastian, is the 1812 veteran buried at Oakland Cemetery in Corning. Samuel Cole served with the sea fencibles as a Private in Captain John Leonard’s Company 40th US Infantry. He received bounty land in Waushara County, Wisconsin for his service in the War of 1812.
